All Original Turbo: 1981 Pontiac Trans Am Daytona Pace Car
This 1981 Pontiac Trans Am (VIN 1G2AX87T3BL121318) is apparently one of exactly 2,000 Daytona Pace Car editions fitted with the optional Y85 package, consisting largely of a turbocharged 301, distinct graphics, and an excellent Recaro fitted interior. This example looks virtually new, and is said to remain all original including paint, graphics, and matching-numbers drivetrain. Find it here on eBay in San Tan Valley, Arizona for $33k OBO. Special thanks to BaT reader Avenue H. for this submission.
Inexpensive & Interesting: 1961 Buick Special w/ 215ci Aluminum V8
This 1961 Buick Special (chassis 0H1559818) is offered as a recent sounding storage find, and the seller believes that it remains all original, including recorded mileage of ~53k. The car’s interesting little 215ci aluminum V8 starts easily, but stutters a bit under hard acceleration and is likely to need some carb or further tuneup work. Other mechanicals sound to be in good order, and rust is said to be minimal and non-structural. Additionally, all lights, the wipers, heater and even the original AM radio are said to be in working order. Find it here on eBay in Fenton, Missouri with a $4,850 BIN.
Agave Green Oval: 1957 Volkswagen Beetle
This 1957 Volkswagen Beetle (chassis VW111372895) is a final year oval window example that’s believed to retain its original 1200cc motor. The seller adds that attractive Agave Green is its factory correct color, and that it’s probably been resprayed once. Condition looks very good throughout, and the car is further claimed to be in good running condition. Find it here on eBay in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada with a $15,900 USD BIN.
Fascinating History: 1962 Panhard CD Number One
This 1962 Panhard CD (chassis 108) is described as the very first example built, and though that’s very interesting in its own right, the car’s history gets even better. First serving as a Paris Auto Salon display car, it’s said to have attracted some 800 purchase intentions, and was then presented to the FIA on three separate occasions for homologation inspections–these cars were originally built in anticipation of Le Mans runs, and incredibly, this one is owned by André Guilhaudin, one of the drivers who piloted a similar car to an Index of Performance win at Le Sarthe in ’62. Restored about 20 years ago and said to be ready for road or vintage racing, it looks spectacular in photos as well. Find it here at Artcurial who will auction the car on July 9th, 2016 at Le Mans, France. Hammer estimate range from 85k – 125k euros (~94k – ~139k USD today). Special thanks to BaT reader Kyle K. for this submission.
