Starting 2015 Right: The Annual Anti-Football Run This year we re-visited one of our favorite traditions, starting January 1st with the Swig's fantastic Anti-Football Run through Marin county. We'll also categorize this one as a BaT Auction Success Story, as we chose to drive with dad in the car that he won in a BaT Auction lat month, the 1963 Corvair Monza Spyder Turbo. Our resolution for 2015 is to do more driving events and wrenching. Check out the galleries below and more details on the Corvair and others along for the ride. Click here to read more...   Current BaT Auction - Ends Wednesday, January 7, 2015 Gone to Europe: 1961 Triumph Italia 2000 Coupe 1/1/2015 Update: Over a year later, this Triumph Italia is now being offered in Europe where it was recently shown at the Antwerp Concours (pics). The bumper mounted driving lights have been removed, but the car looks otherwise the same as when previously offered. Find it here at dealer Autos Dekens in Belgium for 95k euros (today ~$115k USD). 8/6/2013 Update: Four months later, his Triumph Italia remains available and has been listed here on eBay with a Buy-It-Now price dropped to $85k/offer. From 4/9/2013: This 1961 Triumph Italia 2000 Coupe (VIN # TS76287LC0) is listed as having been registered in 2006, and the seller indicates that all documentation on the work performed is available, as well as full ownership history from new. This is the first one we've seen in a while that isn't in project form, and we love the finished lines. The listing of this car in the Triumph Italia Registry matches this one as #197 of the 329 that were produced, and might provide a contact channel for the restorer. Find this one here on Hemmings in Orlando, Florida for $95k. BaT Auction #21: Now Open for Bidding! Happy New Year from all of us at BaT! We're excited to ring it in with a fresh batch of auction listings. Here's to a happy, healthy, and car-filled 2015. The 1967 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 has been nicely restored in a unique color combo and sports a strong small block Chevy engine. A 1969 MGC is a rare 6-cylinder model with triple wipers and great cosmetics! The 1988 Jaguar XJ-SC features a Tom Walkinshaw Racing Sport R package and is offered by a longtime Jag enthusiast. A 1968 Pontiac Firebird convertible is a nice alternative to Mustangs and Camaros and features a V8 and 4-speed manual. The 1987 Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio Spider is all original and one of the nicest examples we've ever seen. A 1983 BMW 745i is a very clean and  upgraded example offered by a well known BMW specialist. The 1988 Mercedes 560SL features all original paint, low mileage, and long-term ownership. Finally, a 1976 BMW 2002 is a super clean example with some nice upgrades. Click here to read more...   Bring a Paver: Historic Marlboro Motor Raceway For Sale This racetrack located about 20 miles southeast of Washington D.C. seems to be Marlboro Motor Raceway, a track dating from 1952 and closed 17 years later when the local SCCA moved to Summit Point in West Virginia. Initially a dirt oval, 1954 saw a paved road course added while later additions included an infield karting track. Used for SCCA and NASCAR events among others, the site is notable as the starting point for Roger Penske's racing career and as the inspiration for Marlboro Maroon Metallic, a Corvette factory color in 1967 and '70. Click here to read more...   Nicest Left: 1970 Volkswagen K70 L This 1970 Volkswagen K70 L appears to be largely original and in remarkably well kept condition, surpassing even that of another good looking, unrestored example from England we featured earlier this month. Designed by NSU and adopted by VW following its 1969 absorption of that company, these cars predated the Passat as Wolfsburg's first water-cooled, front wheel drive cars and are now uncommon in any condition.
