We spent 12+ hours Saturday at Circuit de Spa Francorchamps watching some of the best vintage racing we have ever seen. Our gallery below includes over 300 photographs to try to share our enthusiasm with you. These people get it.... entry is a paltry 25 Euros for three days, spectators' classic cars park together and for free right against the track, the 6-hour event requires a lighting strategy, and there are four different paddock areas, all of them jammed with wonderful race cars that couldn't care less about Monterey acceptance. This 1963 Corvette convertible is a 327, four-speed car that once belonged to Harley Earl, the famous VP of GM's design studios. Built under shop order 10323, it's thought to have originally been intended for display at the Chicago Auto Show, but after being supplanted by a similar car was instead presented to Earl as a surprise gift in his Palm Beach driveway. Full of unique and fantastic custom, one-off features, it's an interesting piece of American automotive history. Find it listed here at Mecum Auctions where it will roll across on October 11th in Chicago, Illinois. Click here to read more... |
This 1964 Mercury Montclair Breezeway looks immaculate and is said to be an all-original, one owner (prior to the selling dealer), 16,375 mile car. Loaded with A/C, 390 big block, and of course the Breezeway's party trick - a power rear window - it looks like a really nice example of one of FoMoCo's many styling high water marks of the era, further helped by a great white over pale turquoise cloth color scheme. Find it here on eBay in Lakeland, Florida where it can't find a $10k bidder. Click here to read more... |
