Turbo II Swap: 1974 Mazda RX-4
This 1974 Mazda RX-4 is a far cry from the needy or tasteless examples we usually find on offer. It is clean, understated, and looks nearly stock, but under the hood is an 80s era 13B from an RX7 Turbo II , doubling the stock 12A's horsepower. Find it here on eBay in Concord, California. This just in from the Carrera racers of the Lancia Fulvia that they found here on BaT. Despite their challenges, we'd say they are a huge BaT Success Story given that they were able to experience their first Carrera. Bravo, guys!
"Hi BaT -
Unfortunately, the Fulvia's engine suffered serious damage on day 3 during the second speed stage, the piston to cylinder #1 cracked into several pieces and damaged that cylinder's associated hardware beyond repair. Sadly, our race is over but it's a good thing we "brought a trailer" to get the Fulvia back to Mexico City (see attached pic). BaT commenters were right that the 1.3L engine would struggle, there are a lot of steep uphill
sections and even some of the transit stages move along at a very brisk pace on highways (around 90mph). Hence, we were running at very high revs 95% of the time, for 8-10 hours a day. It really was too much to ask of the little engine, or perhaps the lack of BaT decals was our undoing ;-). Click here to read more... |
This 1987 Buick Regal Turbo T (chassis 1G4GJ117XHP433014) is said to be a one-owner (prior to the selling dealer), all-original, unmodified car with only 42,000 miles from new. These cars are among the rarest of all turbo Buicks, with only 1,547 examples of the so-called WE4 package built and only for the 1987 model year. Utilizing many aluminum parts, they were actually lighter, and therefore faster, than the Grand National. Find this one here on eBay in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with a $22,900 BIN.
