BaT Exclusive: 1961 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider This 1961 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider (chassis AR*171443*) was the subject of a 1990 restoration performed by noted Ferrari specialist Peter Markowski of Restoration Performance Motorcars in Vegennes, Vermont. It still looks good with a straight, always rust-free body and glossy, recently color sanded paint, and though running a non-factory 1600 cc Giulia GT Veloce motor with dual Webers, the original 1300 is included in the sale. The seller and owner for the past six years says the car has been kept as a weekend driver with lots of time and effort spent to maintain it in top mechanical condition. Recently purchased by the seller and third owner with the intent to use it as a daily driver to keep miles off his E30 M3, it quickly became apparent that this car was too nice to daily duty and his garage is now overfilled with E30s. He says it drives beautifully with no mechanical faults, and has tested the entire car with a paint gauge to verify that it is all factory applied paint. Only 500 of this particular variant were ever made, and though these second gen cars and their predecessors were never officially sold outside of Japan, we in North America know the third generation cars better as the Lexus SC300 and SC400. This one runs a top-of-the-line 232 HP turbocharged straight six and 4-speed automatic, the only available combination for Aerocabins.
