This 1929 Chrysler Model 75 competition roadster is prepped for grueling long distance events, having finished second overall in the 15,000 mile, 55 day Inca Trail Rally in 2001. Built for competition the previous year, the number in its model name designates its top speed of 75 MPH?a figure it?s said to easily exceed. ?Built by and for Peking to Paris veteran Rich Newman of Chicago, its current owner?s attention has recently shifted from vintage long distance endurance rallying to electric motorcycle land speed record setting. Following its 2001 Inca podium the car competed in the 2003 Shield of Africa Rally and again at the legendary Peking to Paris event four years later, in the process crossing the Gobi desert, Mongolia and Russia over 7,000 miles and 35 days. Says the seller: ?This car is the "real deal" and has been driven hard and competed in South America, Africa, Asia and Europe. It needs a new owner who is adventurous enough to continue this legacy.? It is now available in Lake Elmo, Minnesota for $28,400. Click here to read more... |
I?m Vance D., one of the writers here at BaT, and when I was a wee lad our family car was a 1948 Chrysler Traveler practically identical to the eBay car below (I don?t think ours had the sun visor). That?s me in the photo, along with my mom and aunt, while on a road trip in the 1950s. Travelers were based on the Windsor 4-door-sedan, but had a more upscale interior, two-tone paint and a wooden roof rack reportedly made by Chris-Craft that I remember my dad revarnishing regularly. Even in the 1950s, I can?t recall ever seeing another, but on road trips it easily lived up to its name, covering hundreds of miles each day with zero problems. Click here to read more... |
This 1974 Mazda RX-4 is said to be an unrestored survivor with only two owners from new. The seller states that he purchased the car from the meticulous original owner in 2011, who had been using it since the mid-1980s sparingly as a second car. Although not perfect, the car is said to run great and has only 20k miles on a factory warranty replacement 13B motor. With the combination of good looks, relative scarcity, and its wonderful rotary motor, this car makes for an interesting and unusual find. Find it here on eBay in Richland, Washington with reserve not met. Click here to read more... | Also new on Bring a Trailer:
