BaT Exclusive: 1936 Auburn 852 Supercharged Cabriolet Project This 1936 Auburn 852 S/C Cabriolet (Serial #35653 F) is a rare and highly desirable automobile that is very nearly complete and needs restoration. The seller notes that apart from the seats, interior panels, canvas top and some miscellaneous trim items – all of which are obtainable – most parts are present, including the original Schwitzer-Cummins supercharger. Purchased from a Federal Marshall's Office auction in 2011, the rebuild got underway in 2013, only to be put on hold when the seller was given the opportunity to acquire another 852 S/C Cabriolet, this one fully restored, a few months after the restoration started. This car is an attractive and highly collectible model, second only to the iconic boat-tail, that would cost many multiples of this price. It makes for a compelling project. We like the green/black combo instead of the usual red, and this thing is said to have a near new Detroit Diesel 6V53T engine and Allison transmission. Though the body shows some dents the car is mostly straight and appears complete apart from the missing headlight, rocker trim, and rusted floors. During a 30 year ownership the seller has never questioned the car's running condition and a lost title is mentioned.
