RM-Sotheby's Motor City Sale This Week: Interesting Picks
RM-Sotheby’s upcoming Detroit sale is packed full of rare, interesting and special old cars (and boats), and though there’s a few European makes mixed into the lot list, most are American marques in keeping with the Motor City theme. As always, we had a hard time narrowing down such a great variety of worthy machines down to a small handful, but after several revisions we’ve settled on four of our favorites. The sale itself will be held in Plymouth, Michigan in conjunction with the Concours d'Elegance of America at St. John’s on August 25th, 2015. Find the full lot list here
Too Cheap: RMVR 1959 Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite
This 1959 Austin Healey Sprite has been prepped for RMVR or Rocky Mountain Vintage Racing and though apparently last run in 2012, the car is said to be clean, quick and responsive. Notably, sale includes a title which means it could potentially be returned to the road. Find it here on Craigslist in Conifer, Colorado for $7,995. Special thanks to BaT reader Jeff W. for this submission.
One Owner: 21k Mile 1980 Plymouth Arrow Pick-Up
This 1980 Plymouth Arrow pick-up is described as a one-owner, always garaged survivor with only 21k miles from new. The camper shell and automatic transmission aren’t ideal, but these Mitsubishi-made trucks are so rare in any condition that we think this minty relic deserves more attention. Find it here on Craigslist in Clarkrange, Tennessee for $6,500. Special thanks to BaT reader Christopher H. for this submission.
Giugiaro Styled & Porsche Powered: 1990 SEAT Ibiza in Florida
This 1990 SEAT Ibiza (chassis VSS021A0009791748) was recently imported from Europe and is said to be all original, rust free and mechanically healthy. A pre-VW merger design, these cars were partially developed with help from Porsche as is evidenced by this one’s cam cover markings. Find it here on eBay in Tampa, Florida with reserve not met. Special thanks to BaT reader Joe B. for this submission.
