Raced In Period: 1964 MGB Race Car

MGB Race Car

This MG MGB (VIN GHN323995) is a 1964 roadster with quite a backstory. It was a former stocker that was converted for race duty by the first owner shortly after the original purchase. The car competed in several amateur classes for almost a decade before being put into long term storage, only to be brought out 18 years later and de-tuned to function as a daily driver for the owner’s college bound son. It was then recommissioned four years later as a track ready machine and went on to race for another 10 years before being sold to the current and second owner, who has kept it active on the local vintage circuits. Find it here on eBay in Moseley, Virginia with a BIN of $28, 950.

BaT Success Story: Hilarious Manta and a Miata-Powered Volvo

“Dear BaT,
I wanted to write a kind belated message to thank you for being the medium through which I could acquire my two oddball classics: a 1974 Opel Manta (link), and a 1963 Volvo P1800 (link).

I had purchased the Manta for my mom after scouring the Web for months for listings. The Manta had been one of her favorite cars she drove in the Philippines in the ’70s and I thought it would be great if I could acquire one for her. I saw several Mantas featured on BaT and finally contacted the seller of the orange example and quickly and easily worked out a deal. After a few months, we sent the Manta’s engine out to get bored, added disc brakes & steel lines, fitted headers, new exhaust and new wheels and she’s now a real blast to tool around town. Absolutely hilarious.

The same can be said of the Miata-powered P1800. I haven’t done anything to her yet, but plans include a respray and maybe some light cosmetic work. The P1800 drives and handles well given the vast suspension upgrades already done. A turbo may be in the cards in the not so distant future!

Thank you, BaT! The quality, diversity of vehicles (and not to mention the outstanding community of buyers and sellers) make this site a mandatory daily, if not hourly, visit.

Best,
Rod S.”

Rare 2CV Cabrio: 1967 Citroen Azelle

Citroen Azelle

This 1967 Citroen Azelle (chassis 7105175) is an attractively styled convertible version of the marque’s famous 2CV. Styled like a French take on the VW Hebmüller, this quirky cabrio appears as if it’d be equally comfortable travelling either forward or backwards. Said to be the only one in the United States, this example is bound to turn even more heads than the already-odd standard car. Find it here on eBay in Cave Creek, Arizona with reserve not met. 390/406 Mystery: 1962 Ford Galaxie Post 4-Speed

62 Ford Galaxie 001

This 1962 Ford Galaxie comes from the days of the marque’s, “Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday” mantra. Presented in bright red with a red and white interior, this car looks a lot like some of Fords early Super Stock drag cars raced by guys like Phil Bonner and Gas Ronda. With a 390, 4-speed and a killer stance we think it’s just about perfect as-is. Find it here on the H.A.M.B. in Springfield, Illinois for $28,500 .

Flathead V8 Powered 1940 Ford Panel Delivery

Ford Other Panel Delivery Van

This 1940 Ford Panel Delivery (chassis 185738124) is a largely well restored example of this first year model. Following on the controversial oval nose of the ’39 models, these more conventionally styled–and much better looking–1940 and ’41 trucks were a pleasant comeback for the blue oval brand. We like this one’s colors, flathead V8 and original wide black and yellow plates, and though attractive from a few feet it remains just scruffy enough to use properly. Find it here on eBay in Smithtown, New York with reserve met.
