Bogus Lotus: Crosley-Powered Sports Racer
10/26/2015 Update: Five years after we last featured it, this interesting period-built sports racer is now on offer from a seller who says he bought it back then. Find it here on Craigslist in Paradise Valley, Arizona for $26k. Special thanks to BaT reader Harv F. for this submission.
From 12/22/2010:
This Crosley-powered sports racer has been fully restored and is said to have race history dating back to the 1960’s. The seller quotes much of the info in the listing from an old photo listing of the car from before the restoration (shown below). There the racing history is claimed as well as the story that it was found in a shed in Riverside in 1987. If either of those could be documented it would be much more valuable, but we’d say at this point it is a steal just for the fun factor. Find it here on eBay in Bronx, New York with no reserve. Special thanks to BaT reader Noel R. for this submission!
Rare 5-Speed: 1975 Fiat 130 Coupe
This 1975 Fiat 130 coupe (chassis D0004097) is one of less than 200 produced this model year and 4,500 in total, according to Pininfarina production records–the seller further speculates that only about 10% were 5-speed manuals such as this one. With barely over 50k miles, this claimed three owner example comes with a binder full of records and looks quite good inside and out. Find it here on eBay in Lawndale, California with reserve not met.
Sharp Six Swap: GT Flared 1975 Porsche 914
This 1975 Porsche 914 started life as a standard car, but now sports steel GT fender flares and a fuel injected 2.7 liter flat six from a 1975 911. The seller says that work has been done right, and photos do show a very sharp looking car. Find it here on Craigslist in Studbridge, Massachusetts for $43k or trade for an ’09 or newer Boxster. Special thanks to BaT reader S.C. for this submission.
$7k and Overdrive: 1974 Triumph TR6 Project
This 1974 Triumph TR6 is said to have a worn interior and top, but is said to run well. Though this example has the later large overriders on the bumpers, the deliciously 70s brown paint makes for an overall attractive package. This car’s status as a runner make it an appealing candidate for a rolling-resto. Find it here on Craigslist in San Rafael, California for $7,000. Special thanks to BaT reader Clinton F. for this submission.
