Original Paint Uncovered: 1955 Ferrari 500 Mondial by Scaglietti
This 1955 Ferrari 500 Mondial by Scaglietti (chassis 0424 MD or 0564 MD) is an early twin cam four cylinder racing car that’s had its original French Blu paint revealed by careful removal of subsequent resprays. These old racing cars were often treated rather roughly, and the high level of preservation evident on this car is a treat. Find it here at RM Sothebys, who will auction the car as a lot in their NYC Driven by Disruption sale on December 10th, 2015.
Double Delta: Airworthy Saab J35 Draken Fighter Jet
This Saab J35 Draken (airframe 35350, manufactured 1955-1964) offers a reminder of the full meaning of the marque’s full name, Svenska Aeroplan Aktiebolag. This example is one of ten airworthy worldwide–eight are in the US, and the other two are operated by the Swedish Air Force’s historic flight wing. Chapron Decapotable Replica: 1972 Citroen DS21
This 1972 Citroen DS21 was sourced as a standard production sedan in Vietnam, where the seller sought out a local coachbuilder to convert it into the Chapron Decapotable replica seen here. Said to have been built using thousands of reference images and documents, the seller asserts that the car is correct in both dimension and detail. Find it here on eBay in Red Hill, Victoria, Australia for $90k USD OBO.
Real Tiger Parts: 1961 Sunbeam Alger
This 1961 Sunbeam Alpine has been converted to Tiger spec using many parts from a previous owner’s totaled example. Fitted with a 4-speed toploader, 260ci Ford V8, brakes and steering rack from the aforementioned car, the car has the potential to provide genuine Tiger performance at a fraction of the price of the real thing.
