Only One in the US: 1998 TVR Cerbera Project w/ No Reserve
This 1998 TVR Cerbera (chassis SDLFAC2P0VK012259) is offered with a bare-bones description, the seller saying only that “This is the only TVR Cerbera in the US! This car has not run in two years and is a great candidate to get up and running.” Never officially sold here, the Cerbera combined wild fiberglass bodywork, interior styling from another planet, powerful straight-six or V8 engines, very light weight and absolutely no electronic driver aids to make for a very quick, very sharp but potentially unforgiving driving experience. Find this one here on eBay in Stafford, Texas with no reserve. Special thanks to BaT reader Phillip S. for this submission.
V12 Risk & Reward: $3800 1998 Mercedes Benz SL600
This 1998 Mercedes Benz SL600 is a 120k mile example with some damage and an inoperable top. Nearly 20 years ago, these cars had an MSRP of $125k in base trim, and options could quickly raise that number to nearly $140k. According to the seller, the hydraulic system responsible for activating the soft top has a leak, the ad further noting a minor accident a few months ago. Damage appears to be mostly cosmetic, but either way this one’s going to take some money to set right. Find it here on Craigslist in Sacramento, California for $3,800 OBO.
Claimed Ex-Howard Hughes One-Off: 1941 Travel Trailer Project
This interesting travel trailer is said to have been built to order for Howard Hughes, who is also likely to have played a large role in its design. Dating from 1941, the seller suggests that wartime rationing of aluminum was easily bypassed through use of Hughes Aircraft Company’s stockpiles. Of course the US didn’t enter WW2 until very late that year, but the story does sound feasible enough. Claimed to be the only one built, check out the hydraulic dolly setup, which according to the seller is built from a re-purposed B-29 landing gear strut. Find it here on eBay in Salt Lake City, Utah with reserve not met. Special thanks to BaT reader Jeremy R. for this submission.
Mostly Original: 75K Mile 1969 Plymouth Sport Fury
This 1969 Plymouth Sport Fury is a claimed rust-free, two-owner, 75k mile example. Wearing mostly original Alpine White paint with a green vinyl top, this bucket seat and console-equipped car seems a likely home for a 440, but in fact makes do with a standard two-barrel 318. Still, condition looks very good inside and out, and this body style isn’t often seen. Find it here on eBay in Lakeland, Florida with reserve not met.
