Electric Power Restomod: 1960 Auto Union 1000 S
This 1960 Auto Union 1000 S (chassis 6820007172) has been fully restored to a nice-looking standard, with work including conversion from factory two-stroke triple to electric power. Refurbishment was carried out by the seller, who completely tore the car down and replaced almost all nuts and bolts during reassembly. Many parts have been powder-coated, and paint is an attractive single stage job. A not-insubstantial 15k miles have been added since completion, and Audi Germany was impressed enough to send a crew and produce a short YouTube feature. Find it here on eBay in Edmonds, Washington with reserve not met. Special thanks to BaT reader Steve S. for this submission.
$8K to $3K Price Drop Update: Black Plate 1958 Fiat 600 Project
4/4/2016 Update: Just barely over a year later, this 1958 Fiat 600 is back on offer, apparently by the same seller. Its price has been lowered significantly, though it remains in the same partially disassembled condition. Last registered in 1983, the engine is removed and in parts, though as before, the car looks to have potential, especially at this much more realistic asking price. Find it here on Craigslist in San Francisco, California for $2,900 firm.
From 3/31/2015:
This 1958 Fiat 600 is an early, rear-hinged door car that’s said to have one owner from new. Garaged for 30 years, it remains all-original and complete, however the engine and transmission are currently apart. Overall the car looks very restorable, and provided hidden rust is minimal and all engine components are indeed accounted for it should make for a fun, straightforward project. Find it here on Craigslist in San Francisco, California for $8k firm. Special thanks to BaT reader Kyle K. for this submission.
Bizarre FWD Swap: Toyota Powered 1962 Corvair Monza 900
This 1962 Corvair Monza 900 has had its original rear-mounted, air-cooled flat six swapped out for an unspecified Toyota engine that’s driving the front wheels from where groceries used to go. Details are virtually non-existent, but an included interior shot shows the dash and seats from a fifth generation Celica–likely pulled from the drivetrain donor. The ad does note A/C, and we can see that it’s a 5-speed, but literally dozens of questions remain–chief among them, why? Find it here on Craigslist in Modesto, California for $4k OBO.
Rare Spanish Built Forward Control: 1975 VIASA Jeep Campeador
This 1975 VIASA Jeep Campeador is a Spanish license-built truck engineered around the same chassis as used by American market FC or Forward Control series Jeeps, albeit with completely unique bodywork. Available with either the familiar Super Hurricane gas six or a Perkins-made four-cylinder diesel as fitted here, this example is said to have just 10k kilometers–perhaps since restoration? Condition does look to be very good. Find it here on mobile.de in Trieste, Italy for 13,500 euros (~$15,400 USD today). Special thanks to BaT reader Kyle K. for this submission.
