Custom Done Right: 400/4-Speed 1957 Chevrolet Nomad Restomod
This 1957 Chevrolet Nomad (chassis VC57F115577) is a recently completed and overall very well done restomod. Powered by a 400 SBC with dual quads hooked to a Muncie 4-speed, the seller says that it’s a show quality, no-expense-spared build, adding that it’s ready to be driven cross country. Find it here on eBay in Tucson, Arizona with a $58,488 BIN. Special thanks to BaT reader Mike K, for this submission.
Caterpillar V8 Powered Custom Pick-Up: 1989 Ford C8000 4×4
This 1989 Ford C8000 (VIN 1FDYD80U3KVA16459) was originally owned by a California utility company, but is now about 10 tons lighter following removal of a hydraulic boom and related equipment. Fitted with a big pick-up bed in place of the old cherry picker and utility box, its original Ford motor has been replaced with a 56k mile 10.4 liter Caterpillar 3209 turbodiesel V8. Power is shuffled around to all four wheels via an Allison automatic and huge 16,000 pound rated Marmon-Herrington axles, and the seller says it’s in excellent condition with only a new coat of paint need to finish the project. Find it here on eBay in Charlottesville, Indiana for $19,800 OBO.
Bring a Drivetrain: $1400 Locost Project
This Locost project consists of a frame, bodywork, windshield, front suspension and a Miata sourced limited slip differential, and sale also includes three assembly guide books. There’s still a ton of work to be done here, but provided everything is in good shape, it could be a great start. The seller recommends an LS V8 of some sort, but a good, fairly modern injected two liter twin cam four should be more than enough to challenge some much more expensive machinery. Find it here on Craigslist in Bloomington, Minnesota for $1,400 or trade for listed items. Special thanks to BaT reader SM42 for this submission.
Pillarless V12/6-Speed: 1991 BMW 850i
This 1991 BMW 850i (VIN WBAEG131XMCB42453) is a relatively rare 6-speed manual car with a few upgrades like CSi bumpers, Bilstein shocks, and AC Schnitzer wheels. The seller says it’s never been crashed, adding that all paint remains original, and that condition is “near perfect” throughout. Find it here on Craigslist in Castle Rock, Colorado for $21,500. Special thanks to BaT reader Erik C. for this submission.
