"In 1985 I was going to San Jose State and driving a Frito route truck to pay the bills.
They split up the routes, small accounts out of the classic Grumman vans and the big grocery stores out of these fifth wheel rigs. Spent a Saturday with the rest of our drivers at the shuttered Fremont Ford plant for instruction in these things. Never drove one on a route as I stayed with the smaller old school truck and smaller, more personal customers.
