Miatas are entirely devoid of status, in the sense that say, Ferraris have status. There is no one in America with a "normal" job who cannot afford a Miata of some kind, new or used. There's no one-upmanship here, no snootiness, no exclusivity - except that which excludes people who take themselves too seriously. The common bond is the freedom that comes from having a fun car that doesn't break all the time, or break the owner.
