This 1958 Chevrolet Corvette race car has a documented race history back to the 1968 and has been an active vintage racer since 1991. It is listed here on the Registry of Corvette Race Cars, and has a SCCA roll-bar number 99-008 which likely means an even earlier race history in the midwest. The seller bought it as-is two years ago from Don Rettig, who campaigned in CSRG and HMSA for past 28 years with great success. The 283 engine was tired but the car was spectacular in every other way. His mechanic sourced an NOS date-correct block and they used the heads, fuel injection system, and exhaust from the car to complete the build using all quality components. Everything has been gone through and the car was shown at the Hillsborough Concours last year, and the seller says the car is ready to race. It is now available in Novato, California for $70k.
