This 1968 Fiat 500 (chassis 1714129) was ordered by the seller as a custom rebuild from Italian restoration expert Vincenzo Abbonizio in January of 2003. Starting from a rust-free body, the car received custom ordered Ferrari Corsa red paint and red/black upholstery and a larger, more powerful 599 CC vertical twin. The color is authentic F1 team paint supplied by the builder?s Maranello employee son, and former Abbonizio builds are said to include a car made for Michael Schumacher. Rally season has begun! We just made it through the opening night stage at the Snowball Rally, and are running the Alfa Purchase Adventure '64 Giulia Sprint GT that arrived from Amsterdam in January. The car ran great through wine country and along the levees tonight, and we are scheduled for a rigorous Saturday that may or may not include snowy roads tomorrow. 4/15/2014 Update: Almost two years later, this 912 rally car that we previously featured out of Sweden is now in the USA and offered in fully restored condition. Last we saw it listed, it was offered as a stripped shell, and it is now fully built with very cool period rally equipment. Find it here on eBay in Oakdale, New York for $159,500.
