"See Where They Rust" is a new series and category where we feature listings that do a particularly good job displaying where certain models tend to suffer from rust. We love looking for rust-free cars, but we have learned a ton about how to inspect the dry cars from looking at photos of heavily rusted models. Obviously floors and rocker panels are always at risk, but every model has different special areas where they corrode. We hope that this series is informative and helpful when you are verifying the claims of sellers and their "99% rust free" cars. -BaT
This 1960 Porsche 356 B (chassis 113440) is described by its seller as needing complete underside metal replacement, though photos show that the extent of rust extends into the full hood drop rale and upper trunk compartment. Sale includes a free-turning 1600 Super motor and disassembled but complete transmission. Everyone know that the floors of these cars rust badly, but this one dies a good job of showing the front trunk vulnerabilities, oddities like perforated bumpers, and upper front fender decay. Find it here on eBay in Bluffton, South Carolina for $17,850 OBO.

The Little Gem is now in the Deep South, ensconced in a barn………..ok, ok …. this is a "barn" that I would move into in a New York minute, and be very happy for the rest of my days…..but I digress….agin'! The Southern Gent (and he truly is) who is the new owner, is a very knowledgeable gearhead, who also is a driver! The LG is sure to be driven, but never put away wet!.....and there ARE a few other playmates to share the barn! LG is in refined company, what?……and "YES" I would like to drop-by from time to time, just to make sure all is well……
