Back From Monte Carlo: Documented Herbie 1963 VW Bug This 1963 Volkswagen Beetle is claimed to be one of the actual Herbie movie cars, and is claimed noteworthy by the seller for being one of the primary cars used in two films including Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo and for being largely unrestored. It is rigged with custom controls for a person to drive the car while hidden behind the driver seat, and was thus used in many of the self-driving scenes. From 3/18/2013: This 1960 TVR Grantura (Chassis 7C226) was purchased back in 2011 when we featured it here on BaT. The TVR Grantura Register entry for the car (available here) states that it was raced in the UK when new, and came to California around 1978. It was originally fitted with a Coverntry Climax engine, then later an MGB unit, and now has an OSCA twin-cam 4-cylinder. It is now available in Ann Arbor, Michigan for $28,750.
