Three Years Later: Climax-Less 1959 Lotus Elite Update
8/14/2015 Update: This Lotus Elite is now offered as an engine-less roller. As noted below, when we last featured it three years ago, it was offered with a non-original 1.6L Climax engine. The chassis number listed 1002SW, but the seller says there is some mystery as to the true chassis number. Find it here on eBay, still in Oceanside, California so we believe with the same seller, with no reserve and bidding at $23k. Special thanks to BaT reader Rob D. for this update.
From 4/4/2012:
This 1959 Lotus Elite is a former SVRA vintage racer. The seller says it was brought over from England in the 80’s, then purchased at auction in Connecticut in 1991. You might also remember it from a segment of Chasing Classic Cars, where it slipped away. It needs some sorting but it is hard not to love this model. Find it here on eBay in Oceanside, California, with a $75k Buy-it-Now.
Never Seen One: Datsun Homer T20 Delivery Van Project
This mid-70’s Datsun Homer is a model rarely seen in any condition. Built from 1972 to 1976, this one’s year isn’t specified but it’s clearly spent at least the past two decades in less than ideal storage conditions. Find it here on eBay in Huntly, Victoria, Australia with a $1,200 AUD BIN (~$882 USD today). Special thanks to BaT reader Kyle K. for this submission.
Ferrari V8 Optional: Hawk Stratos Tribute
This Hawk Lancia Stratos kit is titled as a 1979 Beta from which its Lampredi twin cam and 5-speed where donated. The seller offers an unspecified three liter Ferrari V8 for an additional $10k, though a cheaper and just-as-satisfactory Alfa Busso V6 could be had for a fraction of that. Find it here on Craigslist in Fort Worth, Texas for $38k. Special thanks to BaT reader Brad H. for this submission.
Not the Missile: 1969 Matra 530
This 1969 Matra 530 is not to be confused with the company’s air-to-air missile of the same name. With its avant garde features, unique face and ostentatious color scheme the car epitomizes all that is wild and wonderful about French car design of the era. Described as completely restored to original condition, it’s virtually guaranteed to be the only one of its type at any stateside gathering. Find it here on Autoscout24 in Toulouse, France for 28,600 euros (~$32k USD today). Special thanks to BaT reader Dr. Gonzo for this submission.
