Char-Broiled Fuelie: 1957 Chevrolet Corvette
This 1957 Chevrolet Corvette (chassis E57S103950) was fresh from restoration just earlier this year when a dash fire caused the damage seen here. One of 713 fuel injected 283ci/283 HP cars built for ’57, the motor, fuel injection system, coolant system, brakes, tires and frame are said to be in good condition, however the hood and trunk lid were beyond repair and have been discarded. Find it here on eBay in Grand Rapids, Michigan with reserve not met. Special thanks to BaT reader Ed T. for this submission.
Original Paint: 1987 BMW M6
This 1987 BMW M6 (VIN WBAEE1405H2560388) is an unrestored example that was well cared for during its first owner’s 20 plus year tenure. The E24’s classic boxy outline and pointed nose have always been one of our favorite period German designs, and this particular car looks to be an excellent survivor. Find it here on eBay in Vancouver, BC, Canada for $34k OBO.
See Where They Rust: 1978 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ55
"See Where They Rust" is a series and category where we feature listings that do a particularly good job displaying where certain models tend to suffer from rust. We love looking for rust-free cars, but we have learned a ton about how to inspect the dry cars from looking at photos of heavily rusted models. Obviously floors and rocker panels are always at risk, but every model has different special areas where they corrode. We hope that this series is informative and helpful when you are verifying the claims of sellers and their "99% rust free" cars. -BaT
This 1978 Toyota Land Cruiser is said to be structurally solid and in very good running order, however rust has taken hold in a pretty big way on several spots around the body including the roof, rockers, doors, trunk floor and more detailed below. Restoration won’t be easy, but we like to think this claimed-original example is more than a parts donor. Find it here on eBay in Los Angeles, California with reserve not met.
1952 Dodge Power Wagon Ambulance Project
This 1952 Dodge Power Wagon shows some rust but looks largely intact apart from the left side headlight and a few other trim pieces. Offered as a restoration project, it doesn’t sound to be running but the seller does refer to it as original and complete–perhaps the missing parts are included separately . Find it here on Craigslist in San Diego, California for $5k. Special thanks to BaT reader Ed T. for this submission.
