Unsinkable at Any Speed: Amphibious Chevy Corvair Prototype
This 1961 Chevrolet ‘Corphibian’ is said to be the single amphibious prototype commissioned by GM and built by the Hulten-Holm Company of Pontiac, Michigan the same year as the Amphicar was debuted. The bottom features a fiberglass hull and the vehicle is said to have only ever covered 157 miles. Find it here at Mecum’s Kissimmee Auction next month. Special thanks to BaT reader John P. for this submission.
Long Time Local Owner: 1970 Plymouth Barracuda
This 1970 Plymouth Barracuda is described as being a one-owner car by the current selling dealer, and has been in the Portland area since new.Riding on a 2″ shorter wheelbase than its Dodge Challenger stablemate, we find the proportions of this car to be the slightly better of the two E-bodies. With the 383 V8, this one would be a nice driver. Find it here on eBay in Portland, Oregon.
Low-Mile Base Model: 1985 Toyota MR2
This 1985 Toyota MR2 may not be supercharged, but it still among the nicest we’ve seen and has 90k miles on the odometer. Though the seller lists this car as a roadster, this appears to be a fully hard-top example, a boon for weather sealing and rigidity. Find it here on Craigslist in Lindenhurst, New York for $2,650. Special thanks to BaT reader Avi F. for this submission.
Rare and Rusty: 1967 Glas 3000GT Project
This 1967 Glas 3000GT (chassis 602001547) is a car that the seller has just acquired from an estate after apparently trying to buy from the owner for 20 years. Bumpers and the original V8 drivetrain are missing, though there is a BMW M30 engine currently in place. The Frua-designed body needs rust repair, but most chrome and the interior seem intact. Find it here on eBay in Houston, Texas.
