New Auction Listings
Pre-Thing: 1943 Volkswagen Type 82 Kubelwagen
This 1943 Volkswagen Type 82 Kubelwagen is one of fifty-thousand or so built between 1940 and ’45. Imported from Germany to Detroit in 1969, a senior Chrysler employee is said to have restored it with the use of an unspecified, postwar VW chassis and matching 25 HP motor. The seller says that the original body needs a few details changed for a more correct appearance, but no further specifics are provided, and the vehicle is ready to be driven as-is. Find it here on The Samba in Milwaukie, Oregon for $39k. Special thanks to BaT reader Frank for this submission.
Flood Damaged 1976 Jaguar XK12-C Project
This 1976 Jaguar XJ12-C Coupe (chassis UG2G50435BW) is one of 1,855 built over a five year production run. The seller says it was a running, drivable car prior to being caught in a flood while in storage. It looks complete apart from a few small trim pieces, but the interior is rough, and properly righting the electricals and cosmetics will necessitate a full teardown and rebuild. Find it here on Craigslist in Auburn, Washington for $2,500.
Mini, Van: 1989 Suzuki Alto Panel
This 1989 Suzuki Alto panel van is an interesting Kei-class machine that’s said to have been properly imported and registered. The seller says it runs great, and the odometer shows 49k kilometers–just over 30k miles. Power comes from a 660cc triple, driving the front wheels through a 4-speed manual. The minimally styled, upright bodywork and corrugated panels give it a kind of mini Citroen H-van vibe, and cab access is by a sliding door on the left or a horizontally split tailgate–there is no driver’s door. Find it here on Craigslist in Bellingham, Washington for $4,995. Special thanks to BaT reader AMF for this submission.
Ex-Russian Embassy: Nicely Restored 1985 Toyota Land Cruiser FZJ75
This 1985 Toyota Land Cruiser FZJ75 (VIN FZJ750020844) is a restored troop-carrier model with an interesting history. Prior to importation and teardown, the seller says it served as a US government-owned Russian embassy vehicle. An unusual 1FZ-FE 24 valve, twin cam, gas straight-six-powered truck with LHD and a 5-speed, the seller says it’s completely free of rust, and photos do appear to show a very well-turned out restoration. Find it here on eBay in Miami, Florida with no reserve.
