Three Sticks & Solid Lifters: 1984 Oldsmobile Hurst/Olds
This 1984 Oldmobile Hurst/Olds Cutlass (VIN 1G3AK4797EM392422) is an unusual, limited production G-body car featuring a factory triple-lever”Lightning Rod” automatic shifter and its matching-number 307ci V8. Olds and Hurst’s relationship was renewed in ’83 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of their first collaborative Cutlass, and this example is one of 3,500 built for ’84, all of which were painted identically. This one looks well-kept, but has had one factory-correct respray. Find it here on Craigslist in Macomb, Michigan for $17,777.
580 HP & Streetable: 1968 Mercury Cougar Track Build
This 1968 Mercury Cougar has been prepped for track use, and though the build looks great with an excellent sounding spec sheet, it remains street registered on original black California plates. Powered by a built, recently freshened 349 stroker that’s been dyno’d at 580 HP, the car runs big six-pot Wilwoods with NASCAR rotors, heavily upgraded suspension, a Jerico 4-speed (another stock car item), a 4.11 geared limited slip and more detailed in the ad. The seller links their YouTube channel, which hosts a video showing the car passing Vipers and even a 996 GT3 at Laguna Seca. Find it here on Craigslist in Vacaville, California for $40k, including spares and a 28′ enclosed trailer.
Italian Scirocco: 1979 Alfa Romeo Alfasud Sprint Veloce 1.5 in the US
This 1979 Alfa Romeo Alfasud Sprint Veloce 1.5 is a good-looking example of what was then the line’s sportiest offering. These pretty, Giugiaro styled, front wheel-drive cars had revvy boxer four-cylinders and eager handling, but were also unusually (even by Italian car standards of the day) susceptible to rust, and despite more than a million built, few good ones remain today. Never offered in the US, Alfasuds are even scarcer on this side of the Atlantic. This one’s factory-equipped with a 95 HP 1500, and the seller claims no rust and only 17k miles from new. Find it here on eBay in Hollywood, Florida with reserve not met.
Essex Wire Le Mans Livery: 1965 GT40 Mk1B Tribute by GTB
This GTD GT40 replica was hand built at the now-defunct firm’s Poole, England factory in 1989, and is powered by a 302 with excellent Air Flow Research aluminum heads. A 1965 Mk1B tribute, the car is painted in Essex Wire Le Mans livery and looks fantastic sitting over BRM style wheels. GTD was known as one of the best in the GT40 kit business, and this one’s said to be ready to drive. Find it here on Craigslist in Austin, Texas for $84k or four grand more with spares including a short block and an extra 5-speed transaxle. Special thanks to BaT reader Gooffer for this submission.
