V6/5-Speed Swapped Hatchback: 1972 Chevrolet Vega
This 1972 Chevrolet Vega is an unusual choice for a restomod with an equally interesting drivetrain swap, a 3.8 liter V6 and 5-speed sourced from an ’02 Camaro. A few details could be improved upon, but overall the car looks well built, and with nearly twice the power as a stock four-cylinder model, it should be quick too. Find it here on eBay in Fort Collins, Colorado with a $12,500 BIN.
Small V8/5-Speed: 1995 BMW 530i
This 1995 BMW 530i is an interesting and somewhat rare 5-speed manual version of the company’s smallest modern V8 offering. Listed for sale by the second owner, mileage is ~68k and photos show what looks to be a very well kept car. The seller says it’s always been maintained properly and never driven in winter, adding that it’s in excellent working order throughout, including A/C. Find it here on Craigslist in Dearborn, Michigan for $7k. Special thanks to BaT reader Skig for this submission.
Hidden Fifth Wheel Build: 1958 Chevrolet Viking 50 COE
This 1958 Chevrolet Viking 50 LCF COE received a full frame-off restoration in 2009 and has been driven just 775 miles since. Originally a stake bed truck, it now wears a custom bed with a hidden 5th wheel receiver. Numerous comfort and convenience items have been added to the cab including A/C, power windows, and GPS navigation. Powered by a 350ci V8, it also runs a 4-speed manual and a 2-speed gear splitter rear end. Said to have cost over $80k to build, the truck likely couldn’t be duplicated at this ask. Find it here on eBay in Voorhees, New Jersey for $39,900 OBO.
Rare AWD 6-Speed Wagon: 2007 BMW 328Xi
This 2007 BMW 328Xi (VIN WBAVT73517FV29099) has 130k miles, but looks very well kept inside and out regardless. A rare and desirable AWD 6-speed wagon with good colors and options, the seller says it’s in excellent, needs-nothing condition, further citing new rear shocks, shock mounts, and brake pads and rotors all around. Comfy, quick, safe, and good to drive, 3-series wagons with manual transmissions are one of the best small family car choices out there. Find this one here on Craigslist in suburban Chicago, Illinois for $12,800.
