Super Rare Prototype: 1967 Pontiac Fitchbird
This 1967 Pontiac “Fitchbird” is a real rarity, being one of perhaps two or three semi-official prototypes developed as a potential Firebird range-topper. Commissioned by John DeLorean, Fitch was chosen for his success with the Corvair, though his signature buttressed C-pillar “sail panels” were less successful when applied to this shape, ultimately leading to rejection by DeLorean and his team. The ask for this example is certainly hefty, but the car could potentially be worth it considering its fascinating history and extreme rarity. Find it here on eBay in Long Beach, California with no reserve beyond an unmet $250k starting bid. Special thanks to BaT reader Kyle K. for this submission.
Two Year Rarity: Restored 327/4-Speed 1964 Chevelle Two-Door Wagon
This 1964 Chevrolet Chevelle two-door wagon is said to have traveled only 200 miles since receiving a complete restoration. Details are limited, but the car’s overall condition appears to be impressive, save for a couple minor cosmetic inconsistencies. Described as a fun driver, power comes from a ~10k mile 300 horse 327ci V8 miles, and is routed to the ground via a rebuilt 4-speed and 3.36 rear end. Find it here on eBay in West Bend, Wisconsin with reserve not met.
Rent a Racer: Matching-Numbers 1966 Shelby GT350H w/ Flares
This 1966 Mustang GT350 is claimed to be an authentic Shelby-built car, and was originally specced as a black and gold-striped “H” model with an automatic transmission, as ordered by rental car company Hertz. Fiberglass flares were added later, though correct, steel panels are included as well. The seller says the car retains its matching-numbers 289, but it now runs a proper 4-speed manual–original or not, a worthy upgrade. Find it here on Craigslist near Colorado Springs, Colorado for $118k.
160 HP & 1500 Pounds: Tuned 1974 Lotus Europa Twin Cam
This 1974 Lotus Europa twin cam has a slightly scruffy interior, but looks good on the outside and packs a rebuilt and tuned motor assembled by vintage Lotus race specialists. Good for an impressive 159 HP and 141 lb. ft. of torque, the ~1,500 pound car is said to move very quickly with excellent, neutral, and communicative handling. Find it here on eBay in Vernon, Vermont with reserve not met. Special thanks to BaT reader Rob D. for this submission.
