Ex-GM Engineer Built Stubby: Custom 1960 Chevrolet Corvair Coupe

b

This 1960 Chevrolet Corvair is reportedly the result of a heavily customized four-door sedan built by a retired GM chassis engineer in the mid 80’s. Construction and engineering both sound to have been done to excellent standards, and the build process included fitment of many upgraded parts from later Corvairs, including suspension, brakes, hubs, and gearbox, the latter of which is now a 4-speed rather than the standard three forward gear item fitted to these early models. The car now has some very bad rust underneath, but painstakingly built custom doors are solid, it runs and drives, and still definitely seems like something worth saving. Find it here on Craigslist in Long Beach, California for $3k.

Rare Factory Rolls Royce Power: 1964 Vanden Plas Princess 4-litre R

a

This 1964 Vanden Plas Princess 4-litre R is a rare and interesting Rolls Royce powered car, one of just 6,555 built over a five year period ending in ’68. The only non-Rolls Royce car ever to be powered by one of the firm’s engines, LHD examples like this one must be especially scarce. The seller says it starts easily and is drivable, and photos show a good looking car with few, relatively minor flaws. Find it here on Craigslist in Burlingame, California for $12,900.

Ex-First Second Third BTCC Championship Team: 2000 Ford Prodrive Mondeo

2000 Ford Mondeo Super Tourer - Silverstone Auctions

This 2000 Ford Mondeo Super Tourer (chassis 004) is one of four Prodrive prepared works cars built with what the seller says was unprecedented corporate financial support, with each car rumored to have cost 1m GBP, supported by individual 3m GBP running budgets. The fourth car was written off early in the season, leaving the remaining three to take all places on the championship podium. The winning Alain Menu car is in Prodrive’s museum, the second place Anthony Reid car is privately campaigned in historic BTCC, and this third place finishing Rickard Rydell car is fresh from a recent 39k GBP servicing and offered in “on the button” race-ready condition, including an attractive spares package. Find it here at Silverstone Auctions in Gaydon, Warwickshire, England where it will be offered on July 28th, 2016. Hammer estimates range from 90k – 110k GBP (~$116k – 142k USD today). Twin Cam Restomod Candidate: Engineless 1952 MG TD Project

a

This 1952 MG TD is offered as a project with no engine or transmission, though according to the seller it has “no rust issues.” The windshield is missing, but most exterior trim looks to be intact otherwise, and sale includes top bows and side curtains too. The interior looks like it may be at least partially stripped, but both front and rear ends remain in place. Provided rust truly isn’t too out of control, this could make for a very interesting restomod build–mild Lampredi twin cam power and four wheel discs sound fun. Find it here on Craigslist in Spokane, Washington for $5,500. Special thanks to BaT reader NJ Batz for this submission.
