Restored Coachbuilt Rarity: 1949 Volkswagen Hebmüller Type 14A
This 1949 Volkswagen Hebmüller Type 14A is a beautifully restored and exceedingly rare coachbuilt cabriolet that’s said to be one of only 696 originally produced, with fewer than 100 remaining today. This Heb as they are sometimes called displays very well in photos, and its lovely period color combination and non-standard construction details make for one fascinating Bug. Find it here at Mecum in Monterey, California where it will be auctioned between August 18-20, 2016. Special thanks to BaT reader Kyle K. for this submission.
Dinan Stroker V8 Swapped: 1979 BMW “346i”
This 1979 BMW 320i (chassis 5416798) is powered by a 4.6 liter M60 Dinan stroker V8 and comes with a number other upgrades including Brembo brakes and E30 M30 bumpers. Finished in an extra bright shade of Golf Yellow, the car appears to be well built, and its always cool to see the underappreciated E21 getting some love, whether in the form of more stock builds or even full-on wild customs like this one. Find it here at Mecum in Monterey, California where it will be auctioned with no reserve between August 18-20, 2016.
Petrol Blue w/ Carrera Upgrades: 1980 Porsche 911 SC
This 1980 Porsche 911 SC (VIN 91A0132188) looks well kept in beautiful factory correct Petrol Blue over staggered 930 Turbo width Fuchs, and the seller says it runs and shifts very well. Several worthwhile reliability and performance upgrades are noted as well, including Carrera cam chain tensioners, a Turbo tie rod and bump steer kit, Bilsteins, Euro H4 headlights and more. Find it here on Craigslist in Cortland, New York for $28,500. Special thanks to BaT reader James B. for this submission.
Tri-Power 352/4-Speed: 1962 Ford Galaxie 500XL
This 1962 Ford Galaxie 500XL (chassis 2J63X165653) features a handsome, Thunderbird inspired two-door hardtop bodystyle, itself a precursor to the later fastback roofline which enjoyed NASCAR success. Despite its 406 exterior badging, a modified 352 V8 lives underhood. Nevertheless, it still ranks as a full size example of Ford’s historic mid 60’s “Total Performance” marketing effort, and with a console mounted 4-speed, tri-power, and excellent cosmetics throughout, all it really needs are more appropriate call-out badges. Find it here on eBay in Saint Charles, Missouri for $26k OBO.
