Japanese Hearse in Canada: 1983 Toyota Crown

This 1983 Toyota Crown seems to have started life as a standard wagon, but this hearse conversion was likely fitted either from new or very nearly so. The car has been sitting for a while and will need some detailing and a carb rebuild as a result, but the seller insists that condition is excellent overall, with no rust and good mechanicals. Find it here on eBay in Langley, BC, Canada for $32,500 USD OBO. Special thanks to BaT reader Kyle K. for this submission.

13 Liter WW2 Drone Engine: Super Rare Franklin 0-805

a

This Franklin 0-805 is an exceedingly rare prototype air-cooled flat-twelve originally designed for use in remote controlled military drones. According to Wikipedia, the project was cancelled before full production started, and interestingly the same article sites just one previously known survivor–this example now makes two. A whopping 805 cubic inch, 450 HP design, the seller says that they were informed that this one’s never been run, adding that it looks clean inside and turns over easily on the starter with good compression. Find it here on eBay in Houston, Texas with an $8,500 BIN.

Ex-London Motor Show Prototype: 1960 Jensen 541S

1960 Jensen 541S

This 1960 Jensen 541S (chassis JMEXP101) is said to be one of three pre-production prototypes, of which the other two were equipped with manual transmissions. This automatic example is claimed to have been Jensen’s display car at the 1960 London Motor Show at Earl’s Court. The color has been changed along the way somewhere, but the car still looks great, and even disregarding its prototype history, these are still rare cars, with just 127 built over a four year run ending in ’63. Find it here at Silverstone Auctions who are offering it as part of their 9/3/16 Salon Privé sale in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, England–hammer estimates range from 35k-40k GBP (~$46k-$52k USD today). Special thanks to BaT reader Kyle K. for this submission.
