Bangle’s Best Update: 1996 Fiat Coupe 16V Turbo

a

9/6/2016 Update: Just about 10 months later, and what appears to be the same 1996 Fiat Coupe seen below (VIN ZFA17500090029556) is back on the market, this time for $1,150 less, and on the opposite side of our northeastern border. Registering this one in the US won’t be possible for at least another five years, but the seller seems to hint that condition is as good as photos suggest it would be, and mileage is given as just under 50k (~80k kilometers). Styled by Chris Bangle with Pininfarina interior design, these cars ran a variety of excellent engines, including turbo five-cylinder versions. This one runs a very late 16V, forced induction version of the classic Lampredi twin cam, and thanks in large part to a clever Viscodrive LSD, handling was widely praised as truly excellent for a front wheel drive car of the era. Find it here on Craigslist in Bedford, New York for $13,850. Special thanks to BaT reader Derek M. for the submission.

Road Train: Upgraded & Reliable 1919 Stanley Steamer 735B

Stanley Steamer 735B

This 1919 Stanley Steamer 735B is a seven passenger touring car bodied example benefiting from an upgraded 30 HP boiler and modern insulation materials. The seller says it runs very well, adding that the increased boiler pressure really moves it down the road–fortunately, mechanical brakes are claimed to be just as effective. Cosmetics are OK–the car was resprayed in the 50’s, but the interior retains original leather in what looks to be very decent condition. Find it here on Craigslist in Petaluma, California for $50k OBO. Special thanks to BaT reader Dan H. for this submission.
