Ex-Cannonball Run Update: 1973 Mercedes Benz 450SE
9/30/2016 Update: More than two and a half years later, and this 1973 Mercedes-Benz 450SE has returned to the market, this time for a bit more than 30% less. It’s a cool car made all the more so by its participation in the original Cannonball Run, and though offered with minimal information this time around, condition looks to be much the same as in 2014–imperfect but still good for a fun driver. Previously advertised as including documentation of its Cannonball participation, it was also said to run and drive well. Find it here on Craigslist in Phoenix, Arizona for $5,980.
Overbuilt & Bone Simple: 1974 Volga GAZ-24 in the US
This 1974 Volga GAZ-24 is a Russian-made sedan which once served as the USSR’s primary taxi platform. This example is described as being in very good condition, and photos seem to back the claim. The seller calls it’s 100% analog and built to withstand a nuclear blast, and though eBay is almost always stocked with a few scattered about in former Soviet states, they’re still rare in the US. Find this one here on Craigslist in Atlanta, Georgia for $14k.
4AGZE Swapped: TRD Widebody 1982 Toyota Starlet
This 1982 Toyota Starlet wears a TRD widebody kit whose aggressive looks are backed up with a supercharged 4A-GZE/5-speed drivetrain, an AE86 limited slip diff, upgraded suspension, and four-wheel disc brakes. A persistent misfire is believed to be the fault of a bad ECU, but the car looks to be in good shape, and once sorted could be a huge amount of fun. Unfortunately, this one’s for non-California buyers only, as it isn’t a BAR registered swap. Find it here on Craigslist in Torrance, California for $6,250.
Spanish-Built Dart: 1975 Dodge 3700 GT
This 1975 Dodge 3700 GT is an interesting Spanish-built version of what’s essentially a standard Dart underneath. Riding the same wheelbase but with different bodywork, Madrid-based truck, bus and car manufacturer Barreiros, just under 18,000 were made between 1971 and ’78. The seller says that this one’s probably one of the nicest out there, noting a recent cosmetic restoration and excellent mechanicals. Find it here on Milanuncios in Madrid, Spain for 10k euros (~$11,200 USD today). Special thanks to BaT reader Nolo172. for this submission.
