Half Suburban, Half-Track: 1960 Chevrolet/White Project
This 1960 Chevrolet Suburban/M2 or M3 White half-track mashup is seriously bizarre, but in a very cool post-apocalyptic school bus kind of way. The ad is short on detail, but it’s clear that the truck will need plenty of finishing work–the TH350 auto is dead, the NP205 transfer case only sends power to the front axle, and there’s no word on the 350ci V8’s health. Sale does include a good trans however, and all that’s needed to get the tracks turning is a driveshaft. If the SBC proves too far-gone, a burly Duramax or Cummins swap would fit nicely. Hopefully someone gets this thing running in time for Halloween. Find it here on eBay in Millersburg, Indiana with no reserve.
Early S1 Project: $5500 1977 Lotus Esprit
This 1977 Lotus Esprit is a very early car that’s offered as a non-running project. The seller says it’s all original however, noting a complete engine as well. Only one photo and little additional info is offered, but the seller offers a phone number as well as more photos on request. Find it here on Craigslist near San Antonio, Texas for $5,500. Special thanks to BaT reader IKB for this submission.
See Where They Rust: 1962 Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider
"See Where They Rust" is a series and category where we feature listings that do a particularly good job displaying where certain models tend to suffer from rust. We love looking for rust-free cars, but we have learned a ton about how to inspect the dry cars from looking at photos of heavily rusted models. Obviously floors and rocker panels are always at risk, but every model has different special areas where they corrode. We hope that this series is informative and helpful when you are verifying the claims of sellers and their "99% rust free" cars. -BaT
This 1962 Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider (chassis 07462) is one of the rustiest Alfa’s we’ve ever seen, which of course is saying a lot. The seller says it’s been sitting for years, and seems to suggest in their very brief ad that the wheels are the only solid components left to be found. The engine looks complete however, and hopefully it can be salvaged along with some trim. Find it here on eBay in Los Angeles, California for $16,750 OBO.
Well-Kept 20V/5-Speed: 1991 Audi 200 Quattro Avant
This 1991 Audi 200 Quattro Avant is a final year, 20V five-cylinder turbo model that the seller describes as “clean, well-maintained, and full documented.” The car does look remarkably good inside and out, and thanks to a chip and a few other choice mods, the seller estimates it to be making at least 280 HP. Find it here on Craigslist near Spokane, Washington for $6,850. Special thanks to BaT reader David P. for this submission.
