Still Rare & Odd: 1965 Lancia Flavia Sport Zagato Update
12/22/2016 Update: More than three and a half years later, and this 1965 Lancia Flavia Sport Zagato has returned to market, still in SoCal, but closer to Joshua Tree than the coast. These are rare, exotic cars, with hand-built aluminum bodywork and at least one unusual visual detail for every interesting mechanical feature underneath. One of 626 built between 1963 and 1967, the previous owner claimed a five-year, $58k restoration effort following importation from South Africa in 2007. Now covered in dust, it doesn’t look to have been used much over the past 43 months, but seems like it should clean up well regardless–hopefully mechanicals haven’t atrophied, or the next owner may need to add a few hefty invoices to the stack photographed within the ad. Paging Jon Voight: 22 Chrysler LeBaron Convertibles
This seller offers twenty-two Chrysler LeBaron convertibles for sale, differing in price from $500 to $2,000 depending on condition. They claim that most are in running condition, and offer a discount for anyone interested in two or more. Ranging in year from 1983 to ’86, “liquidating my personal collection” is how the seller puts things, and what a marvelous collection it is. Find it here on Craigslist in Chesterfield, Virginia. SBC-Swapped & Lifted: 1985 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa
This 1985 Porsche 911 Targa has had its boxer six swapped for what’s described as 385 HP Chevy V8, and that’s just the start. The seller further notes big brakes, Fox off-road coilovers, and an impressive 12″ of ground clearance at the oil pan. They admit that some finishing touches are needed, but add that the car runs and drives well. They also claim that it’s very fast, but with nearly 400 HP that’s no surprise. It’s an odd car with odd running gear and some equally odd custom visual touches, but as a concept anyway, it’s also pretty intriguing. One of 43 in LHD: 1953 Bentley R-Type Continental Garage Find
This 1953 Bentley R-Type Continental is one of just 207 built, 43 which were left-hand drive as equipped here. The seller claims it was originally purchased by James Bond creator and author Ian Flemming, as a gift for friend (and former, actual spy) who would later serve as inspiration for a prominent, recurring character in both Bond books and films. The car was recently found tucked away in a Hollywood garage, and though covered in dust, it looks complete and very serviceable. Find it here on eBay in Astoria, New York for $1,395,000.
