Seven Year Update: 1962 Sabra Sports
12/27/2016 Update: Nearly seven whole years since its first update, this 1962 Sabra Sports is back on the market. Relocated from Canada to Germany, its price has actually doubled (and then some), but presentation is much improved, allowing the car’s handsome colors, interesting design features, and excellent condition to shine more brightly than before. One of about 200 built in Israel over a three year period, mechanicals are largely Ford UK-based, and the seller claims the car is a former New York Auto Show exhibition model. No supporting evidence is provided, but based on what we’ve seen over the years, it’s very likely to be one of the best left regardless of history. Find it here on mobile.de in Hamburg, Germany for 36,900 euros (~$38,600 USD today). Special thanks to BaT reader Kyle K. for this submission.
Quarter Scale Pre-Production Styling Model: Wood & Metal Riley Pathfinder
This Riley Pathfinder pre-production model was probably used to present styling ideas to company management, who in turn must have liked what they saw–final production cars look essentially identical, right down to trim detailing and placement. Constructed of wood and metal and measuring just under four feet, overall condition seems very good. It’s a very interesting and apparently beautifully built piece of 50’s British motoring history, and though we’d love to have it in our own collection, we’re inclined to agree with the seller that it’d be best suited to public display in a museum. Find it here on eBay Littlehampton, West Sussex, England for 2,500 GBP (~$3,070 USD today) OBO. Special thanks to BaT reader J.V. for this submission.
Impressive Restoration: 1982 De Tomaso Deauville
This 1982 De Tomaso Deauville is claimed to be one of seven Series II cars currently in the UK, the seller also noting a five year, six-figure restoration completed back in 2010. Reportedly driven less than 4k miles since work came to a close, further mechanical details aren’t provided, however it’s likely that most bugs have been worked out by this point. Cosmetics are certainly impressive, both inside and out. These hand-built machines were sold in very limited numbers–244 over a 14 year production span works out to an average of about 1.5 units per month. Find this one here on eBay in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, England for 80k GBP (-$98k USD today). Special thanks to BaT reader Kyle K. for this submission.
Chrome Country: 1991 Volkswagen Golf 4×4 in New Jersey
This 1991 Volkswagen Golf (VIN WVWZZZ1GZMW556401) is a 4×4 Country model, one of around 3,000 built in conjunction with Steyr-Puch. These Syncro equipped models were never sold in the US, and the seller of this one claims just 21,049 documented kilometers from new. Condition looks to be in accordance with that low figure, and the factory chrome package seen here is claimed to have been fitted to just 500 cars. Find it here on eBay in Woodbridge, New Jersey with no reserve.
