"RandD- yes! Eddie Miller and Stu Hilborn designed the manifold with three single carbs and one dual because they were trying to prevent a lean condition in cylinders 1 & 2. The firing order for Ford Flatheads is: 1-5-4-8-6-3-7-2. Cylinder 1 fires immediately after cylinder 2. Using a two barrel carb over cylinder 1 and 2 provides plenty of fuel thus preventing a lean condition."
