"This is the kind of thing we build ALL the time back in So Cal in the late 80's early 90's. Back then you could get a rust free bug for a hundred bucks. My buddies would go to the pick an pull (El Pulpo) in Sun Valley and wander the rows and find an "interesting" drive train, seats and other "parts" and after a "fun" summer vacation we would have a fun death trap to play with until one of our mom's got tired of it leaking oil on her driveways (since on one had more than a car port)
