Sleeper Sedan: SR20DET Swapped 1973 Datsun 510
This 1973 Datsun 510 (VIN PL510406911) runs a low-mile SR20DET/6-speed swap along with other mechanical upgrades. Conversion work appears to have been done very well, and 250-ish HP and a nearly equivalent torque figure means this thing should move very quickly indeed. Find it here on eBay in Santa Rosa, California with an $8,500 BIN.
Engine Salvage: $5K 1983 Alfa Romeo GTV6
This Alfa Romeo GTV6 is an impressive ten-footer with light modifications from stock. Described as a strong and reliable driver for the current owner, it benefits from recent maintenance plus an overhauled and upgraded front suspension. A 1999 rebuild of the 2.5L engine at 100k miles was written off as an insurance claim, and the title lists the car as salvaged with no flood or accident history. Rust spots are present but small and fairly presented – this was a Washington state car for 30 years. Find it here on the Alfa BB in Raleigh, NC for $5,000.
Giugiaro Styled: 1967 Mazda 1500 Deluxe
This 1967 Mazda 1500 Deluxe is a registered and running example in need of some refreshing. Sold in Japan as the Luce, this model was the forbearer to the luxury 929 model and features attractive styling from Giugiaro. Find it here on carsales.com in Surrey Hills, Victoria, Australia for $2,600 AUD (~$1,800 USD today).
Period Race History: $3500 Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite Pair
These Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite projects have documented SCCA race history from the ’60s. Car #57 shown below scored a 1st in class at Riverside Raceway in a 6 hr Enduro on July 4, 1968. Both cars are said to have been parked in the ’70s and not offered since. Find them here on Craigslist in Santa Barbara, California for $3500 for both cars.
