Death Trap: Corvair Swapped 1957 BMW Isetta
This 1957 BMW Isetta (chassis 494528) features a 150 HP, four carb Corvair engine among other modifications needed to accommodate the swap, and was reportedly built by a shop class in the 1970s. Dubbed the Corsetta, it’s also said to have been featured in a 1977 issue of Hot Rod Magazine. As demonstrated here, the car is prone to wheelies (with a video here) and is further described as being scary fast. Find it here on eBay in Wilmington, North Carolina with reserve not met.
Best in Class: Nicely Restored 1953 Buick Roadmaster Riviera Hardtop
This 1953 Buick Roadmaster has a claimed 34k miles and exceptionally regal in what appears to be Mandarin Red with a Seamist Gray roof. Due to adopt the C-body platform in ’54, this car represents the first year to feature Buick’s Nailhead V8. Having undergone a full restoration, it’s rare to see these cars restored to such an apparently high level. Find it here on eBay in Renton, Washington with reserve not met.
Mechanically Restored: 1961 Facel Vega Excellence Project
This 1961 Facel Vega Excellence (chassis EX1 B130) is described by its FV-collecting seller as one of 12 RHD and one of two disc brake examples built. Further said to be 99% complete, restoration thus far has seen the chassis and running gear completed, and though still in need of extensive cosmetic work, the car does run and drive as-is. Find it here on eBay in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, England for 29,995 GBP (~$42,800 USD today). Special thanks to BaT reader Kyle K. for this submission.
Small Mouth Driver: Mystery Year Triumph TR3
This Triumph TR3 is a well-worn driver that’s said to be in good running order. These small mouth cars are relatively scarce compared to later full-width grille models, and this one is said to include a both side curtains and a tonneau. Given the car’s location and old British sheet metal, rust could be a concern, but provided corrosion is relatively limited this one could make a good candidate for rolling restoration. Find it here on Craigslist in Miami, Florida for $14,950.
