Clean & Green 5-Speed: 1986 Toyota Cargo Van
This 1986 Toyota van (VIN JT4YR28VXG5022282) looks to be in unusually nice shape, especially considering the cargo spec. A 5-speed model with 82k claimed miles, the seller doesn’t hide that paint is a custom metallic green, but it could almost be mistaken for a period factory color, and work does look to have been done to a nice standard. While this one might officially lack a cool name like MasterAce Surf, it’s still rare to see these interesting, mid-engined vans in the US at all anymore. Find this one here on eBay in Portland, Oregon with an $8k BIN.
70% Finished: Honda S2000 Swapped 1970 Opel GT
This 1970 Opel GT has had its original 1.9 liter four swapped out in favor of a Honda S2000-sourced twin cam, and despite gaining only ~100cc of displacement, power jumps from 102 to 240 HP. Obviously a work in progress, there’s no word on whether it runs, but the engine bay does look good and bodywork is ready for paint. Though estimated to be only 70% done, this one has potential written all over it. Find it here on Craigslist in Camas, Washington for $8k. Special thanks to BaT reader nj.batz for this submission.
Good Start: 1973 Chevrolet Vega 283/5-Speed Swap
This 1973 Chevrolet Vega runs a swapped 283ci V8 and Borg-Warner 5-speed, and though not perfect, the car seems like it could really shine following some detail work. Described as accident-free, the seller says no build shortcuts were taken, and though currently registered as non-op, the car is in running, drivable condition. Find it here on Craigslist in Port Hueneme, California for $4,950. Special thanks to BaT reader T.J. for this submission.
Schmalspur Thunderbird: Restored 1961 Auto Union 1000 SP
This 1961 Auto Union 1000 SP (chassis 6812693681) is one of about 5,000 hardtops (and 1,600 cabrios) built between 1958 and ’65. Based on the more familiar 1000 sedan, the press nicknamed these 982cc two-stroke, three-cylinder-powered cars schmalspur Thunderbird, roughly translating as “narrow gauge” or “baby” Thunderbird. Fresh from a very recent restoration, the ad notes that this example has only three owners from new. Find it here on eBay somewhere in Denmark with no reserve. Special thanks to BaT reader AMF for this submission.
