Before & After Update: Nevada 1972 BMW 2002 Driver
3/15/2016 Update: Just under two years later, this 1972 BMW 2002 (chassis 2579102) is back on the market, this time finished to what looks like a higher degree, and clear on the opposite side of the country. Said to run and drive excellently, the seller adds that it’s driven regularly and has proven very reliable. Further described as free of body filler with virtually no rust, the same small spot in the spare tire well still hasn’t been repaired. Still, refit bumpers, deleted aftermarket hood hold-downs, factory rolling stock, and a general interior tidying are all solid and noteworthy improvements. Find it here on eBay in Aliso Viejo, California with reserve not met.
Avec Patine: 1954 Citroen Traction Avant Dirt Tracker
This 1954 Citroen Traction Avant has prepped for dirt track duty, and looks absolutely incredible throughout. Described as being in good working, track-ready order, the car is stripped-down, dusty, dented, and easily one of the coolest customs we’ve seen this year so far. Find it here at Lap 63 in London, England for 25k GBP (~$35,400 USD today). Special thanks to BaT reader Varnish for this submission.
Swap Options: 1974 Fiat X1/9 Project
This 1974 Fiat X1/9 looks great in resprayed, factory-correct green with blue plates, and appears to have a nicely-kept interior as well. Though the original, ran-when-pulled motor is included, the car is not currently running due to the high-compression, swapped-in unit melting a piston. Still, the car looks to have a lot of promise, and includes many good spare parts. After their mishap with the high-comp Fiat motor, the seller started to prep for a Honda K24 swap, the motor for which is available separately for an additional $2,500-fortunately the car remains uncut. Find it here on Craigslist in San Jose, California for $3,500.
Proven Custom: SBC Swapped 1950 Mercedes Benz 170
This 1950 Mercedes Benz 170 has had its original four-cylinder swapped for a Chevy 355 and matching GM automatic, and though the interior has been modified pretty substantially, the exterior provides few clues apart from meaty rubber on widened OEM wheels, a slight rake, and twin exhausts out back. With a little bit of effort, the car could be made to look nearly all-stock from the outside. Built about 15 years ago, the seller claims nearly 30k miles since, meaning any teething problems should have been worked out by now. Additionally, power brakes, steering, and even A/C are noted, and the car sounds to be ready to drive. Find it here on eBay in Flintstone, Georgia with reserve not met.
