Cross Atlantic Update: Fiat 500 Based 1967 Ferves Ranger
3/17/2016 Update: A little under two years later, this 1967 Ferves Ranger is back on the market, this time in California rather than in its native Italy as before. Said to be one of only eight-to-10 in the US, we’ve certainly never encountered one in the wild. Total production was approximately 600, of which about a quarter in total are believed to remain. The little car’s (truck’s?) owner provides no new information, but photos are both more numerous and of much better quality than last time around, and these Fiat 500-based off-roaders are full of interesting details. One of Three: Ex-Geneva Salon 1971 Aston Martin Ogle Sotheby Special
This 1971 Aston Martin DBS Ogle “Sotheby Special” is one of three examples built, this one having had the distinction of serving as an important show car at the 1972 Geneva International Motor Show. Bodied in fiberglass with Plexiglas windows, the cars were expected to be lighter and therefore quicker than the standard V8 on which it was based, which was already one of the world’s fastest cars at the time. As it turned out, extra-thick materials actually lead to a slight weight increase, but may bode well for this car’s restorability. Find it here on Euro Old Gimers for 63,800 GBP (~$92,500 USD today). Jack Stand Sculpture: All-Steel 1934 Ford Three-Window
This 1934 Ford three-window coupe has been heavily chopped and channeled, and remains all-Henry steel. The car looks incredible sitting here on jack stands with no wheels, presenting it as more a piece of sculpture than as a functional machine. Regardless, the car does sound to have been properly built, with a high-comp 289 head-equipped 302, Halibrand quick change rear, big discs, fully custom rod linkages, and old-school, lead-filled cuts for the 3 1/2 inch chop and deep, five-inch channel. Stored 50 Years: Running & Drivable 1957 Austin Healey 100-6
This 1957 Austin Healey 100-6 (chassis BN4LO43923) is said to run and drive well after a recent $7k refresh, itself following removal of the car from half a century in storage. Offered on behalf of the longtime owner, the car wears its fair share of dings, dents, and scratches, but presents as a characterful, honest driver. Find it here on eBay in Akron, Ohio for $28,500 OBO.
