Lost in Nashville Update: Drivable Tatra T613-3 Restoration Project
3/23/2016 Update: Just a few weeks more than a year later, this Tatra T613-3 is back on offer, this time with a lower starting bid but the same photos and little new information. As explained below, there’s reason to question whether this example is truly a 1976 model as listed, but it’s not beyond the realm of possibility. Though running and driving, the car needs some electrical work, rust repair, and a fair deal of cosmetic tidying as well. Just like their more well-known streamliner predecessors, these later, Vignale-styled V8 cars were engineered and built to elevated standards, and this one still deserves to be restored. Parts availability remains good, but you’ll need to brush up on your Czech. Find this one here on eBay in Nashville, Tennessee with no reserve beyond an unmet $12,500 starting bid.
Sharp Restoration: 1967 Porsche 912 in Aga Blue
This 1967 Porsche 912 (chassis 355526) has been given a very good-looking and seemingly recent cosmetic restoration, with work including a full, bare-metal, glass and trim-off respray in its original and beautiful code 6608 Aga Blue. The interior has been redone as well, and looks just as nice in correct-looking black leather. There’s no word on originality, but the ad claims that the car is in excellent running and driving condition. Find it here on eBay in Pleasanton, California with no reserve.
Sharp & Subtle: Dogleg 5-Speed Swapped 1972 Datsun 510
This 1972 Datsun 510 has been modified, but in a relatively subtle, tasteful way with nice attention to detail seen throughout. For example, power still comes from an L16, though it’s been mildly tuned with a Weber carb and long tube headers, and rather than the factory 4-speed, twist is now sent rearwards through a dogleg, 200SX-sourced 5-speed. Lowered nicely overly reasonably sized wheels and rubber, the BRE-inspired paint is also very nicely done. Find it here on eBay in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada for $12,900 USD OBO.
Never Valeted: 1985 Mercedes Benz 300GD Automatic
This 1985 Mercedes Benz 300GD (VIN 46022317902042) is an unusually optioned European spec truck with a naturally aspirated diesel five-cylinder, automatic transmission, and factory A/C. The latter two are the truck’s only luxury items, as spec is otherwise very basic, including roll-up windows, manual locks, vinyl seats, and no wood veneers or quilted leather in sight. Mileage is quoted as approximately 80k, and though mechanical details are limited, these simple, base model Geländewagens are about as robust as SUV’s come. Find this one here on eBay in Saint Petersburg, Florida with reserve not met and bidding in the low three figure range at the time of writing.
