997 Engine Swap Donor: Wrecked 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder
This 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder (VIN WP0CA2A14FS800830) has been hit in the front and rear, apparently when still nearly new–the odometer reads just 92 miles, though Copart has labeled this figure as “not actual” for some reason. At the time of writing, bidding sits at $120k with nearly 19 days auction time left. The seller estimates its retail value as $1.5m, though without markups this model lists closer to $850k. Repair costs are estimated to be in the $600k range, though the 300 pound, 608 HP, 4.5 liter, Le Mans prototype-based V8 could be very interesting stuffed in back of a cheap 997… Find it here on Copart in Long Island, New York. Special thanks to BaT reader Kyle K. for this submission.
All Original in Bali Green: 1978 Volkswagen Rabbit
This 1978 Volkswagen Rabbit is described as 100% original apart from the floor mats, and despite just over 100k miles, it looks very well-preserved inside and out. Rare and attractive Bali Green paint still shines beautifully, and the seller says that the car drives like new. Despite a few minor cosmetic imperfections, it’s likely to be one of the best-kept early cars still on the road. Find it here on VWvortex in New Smyrna Beach, Florida for $10k OBO.
One of One: Restored 429/4-Speed 1969 Ford Galaxie XL w/ Marti Report
This 1969 Ford Galaxie XL (chassis 9G60N199716) is an unusual sounding mix of full-size, late 60’s luxury coupe styling and a 429/4-speed drivetrain combo, its rarity confirmed by the included Marti Report which indicates it’s one of one built with this color and options. The subject of a full 2010 restoration, the car looks showroom-fresh in photos, and sale includes extensive original documentation, including two build sheets and window sticker. Find it here on eBay in Saint George, Utah for $55k OBO.
Parked 36 Years: Preserved 1965 Panhard 24 BT
This 1965 Panhard 24 BT is among the very last cars ever built by the long-running, historically important marque. Weird and exotic in fine old French car tradition, this model runs a roller bearing-equipped boxer twin, in this high-range spec good for a very respectable 60 HP. The car is said to be well-preserved with a nice patina following nearly 40 years parked in a garage, and though apparently complete, running condition isn’t mentioned. Find it here on Pre War Car near Maastricht, Netherlands for 5,250 euros (~$5,900 USD today).
