See Where They Rust: 1967 Vetta Ventura
This 1967 Vetta Ventura (chassis AC103969MD) is one of just 11 built, and is said to have been with the same owner since ten years old. Initially sold as the Apollo GT, these cars engineered in the US, but largely built in Italy by Intermeccanica before returning home to be fitted with Buick V8 power. Oakland-based Apollo sold about 40 before passing the torch to Vanguard in Texas, maker of this re-badged Ventura. The seller suggests that this one is worth restoring, and though quite beautiful and rare, rust has taken hold in a big way, apparently leaving little but the chassis tag and some trim parts salvageable. Find it here on eBay in Wylie, Texas with a $19,800 BIN.
Fully Documented 5-Speed: 1984 Ferrari 400i
This 1984 Ferrari 400i (VIN ZFFEB07B000049041) is a 5-speed manual-equipped example sold with what the seller calls extensive service records. Further described as a rust-free Southern state car with two owners from new, it presents well in detailed photos, wearing fresh paint that seems to be the OEM color. The ad notes that everything works, and with a high-ish (for an old Ferrari) 58k and change miles, the car sounds better exercised than many. Find it here on Hemmings in Litchfield, Connecticut for $63,850.
Nicest Left: 12K Mile 1991 Dodge Stealth R/T Twin Turbo
This 1991 Dodge Stealth R/T Turbo (VIN JB3XE74C6MY029993) is listed as a one owner car with just under 12k miles. It looks excellent in photos, and is very likely to be one of the nicest kept, low-mileage examples left, especially if as well-maintained as the ad promises. The mechanical twin of Mitsubishi’s 3000GT VR-4, these cars were heavy, fast, and very techy, featuring twin turbos, four-wheel drive, four-wheel steering, electronically adjustable suspension, and even cabin-selectable exhaust note profiles. The VR-4 had active aero as well, omitted on these seemingly scarcer TT Dodge versions. More of a GT than other expensive Japanese sports coupes of the day, the passage of time has helped soften their flaws, and though neither Dodge nor Mitsu will likely ever be as sought-after as an FD RX-7 or MkIV Supra, this is clearly reflected in asking prices. Find this one here on eBay in Chesapeake City, Maryland with a $19,500 BIN.
All Original Squarebird: Nicely Kept 1959 Ford Thunderbird
This 1959 Ford Thunderbird “Squarebird” is claimed to be all-original, and looks great in rare Tamarack Green. Redesigned the year before, these formal roofed T-Birds cut an impressive figure, and with a 352ci V8 under the hood, they could move pretty well, too. Though very popular in their day, nice ones don’t pop up very often anymore, though this one certainly seems impressive. Find it here on eBay in Waldwick, New Jersey with a $16,500 BIN.
