Chapman’s Last Prototype: Lotus M90/X100
This Lotus M90/X100 is said to be the final project company founder Colin Chapman oversaw prior to his passing in 1982. Designed to use many Toyota components including the then-new 16 valve twin cam 4AGE, funding fell through and the project floundered, though for years rumors persisted that this car was the basis for the first generation MR2, despite using a completely different front engined, rear-drive layout. Said to have been built to a high, pre-production standard, it languished in Lotus factory storage until auctioned in 1998, and though running when first sold, it has since been fully stripped and partially refurbished. Sale includes extensive documentation including original drawings, documents from testing in Japan, and even an owner’s manual and sales literature, the latter two showing how close this model came to full production. Impressive One Owner: 1987 Maserati Biturbo Si
This 1987 Maserati Biturbo Si is on offer by its original owner, who describes it as being in “showroom condition” with 24k miles. The car does look remarkably well-kept inside, out, and under the hood, and though certain to divide opinion, its color, condition, and excellent three-piece 15″ HRE wheels combine excellently to present the angular bodywork in its best light. Turbocharged 1915cc Flyer: 1968 Volkswagen Baja Bug
This 1968 Volkswagen Beetle (chassis 118069255) wears a well-executed baja conversion, and features a number of functional upgrades that will enable it to run quite well on the dirt. A turbocharged 1915cc motor should give it well north of 150 HP, and extensively modified suspension will help put it down effectively. The seller built the car over the course of several years, and says the car now runs and drives very well. Find it here on eBay in Lakeside, California with a $10,200 BIN.
Rare Hightop Ambulance: 1967 Cadillac S & S Parkway
This 1967 Cadillac S & S Professional Parkway “hightop” ambulance (chassis Z7230295) was restored in 1984, following ten years of service and another seven in the reserve fleet. Following restoration, the car was shown at Professional Car Society events through 1999, after which it was placed in storage for some time. Though said to start easily and and drive well, it’s now in need of new paint, tires, and other sorting. Interestingly, this very car was used as the basis for a 1/18 scale model. Find it here on eBay in Decatur, Illinois with reserve not met.
