Update: Under-Hyped Twin Turbo 1984 Ferrari 400i
4/24/2016 Update: Just about two and a half years later, and this custom twin turbo 1984 Ferrari 400i (VIN ZFFEB06B000048611) is back on the market, this time on the opposite coast. The car was nearly passed over for feature the first time around, as the seller made no mention of the car’s modifications in their eBay listing’s title. Its new seller is less shy about marketing, and has provided some additional information on the conversion. Reportedly carried out by Historic Race Engineering of Costa Mesa, California (incidentally where it was first offered), the ad further claims the same shop was contracted to build seven twin turbo Lamborghini Diablos in the early 90’s. Find it here at IAG in Pompano Beach, Florida with pricing given as $55k OBO here on Hemmings.
Sub $5K Driver: 1984 Rolls Royce Silver Spur Project
This 1984 Rolls Royce Silver Spur is sold with very little information, but is also among the cheapest runners we’ve encountered. Only this one photo is provided, and although not really adequate to judge overall condition, what little can be seen does look pretty good. The seller says it runs and drives well, but adds that its high-pressure hydraulic system needs work–even if the rest of the car is in relatively excellent condition, repairs could quickly reach twice or even more than the asking price. Still, a running, apparently decently kept Roller for under five grand is hard to ignore. Find it here on Hemmings in Joliet, Illinois for $4,900. Special thanks to BaT reader N.S. for this submission.
Strange Mix: Alfa-Centric Collection Sell-Off
This ad offers eight different cars separately or in discounted packages, most of which are Alfas. The full list includes a “99% restored” 1959 Giulietta Spider at $55k, a ’72 Montreal driver for $65k, a ’76 Alfetta running project for $2k, ’71 and ’72 Spider drivers for $4,500 each, an oddly customized ’71 Volvo 1800E for a whopping $50k, a 2003 M3 convertible manual for $16k, and a BMW V12 powered ’74 260Z Ferrari 250 GTO replica project for $14,500. A very strange mix, but several of the cars look to have potential, particularly the Giulietta. Find them here on Craigslist in Astoria, Oregon.
Ex-Caltrans Workhorse: 1964 Dodge D100 w/ Push-Button TorqueFlite
This 1964 Dodge D100 pick-up is said to be a former Caltrans (California Department of Transportation) work truck, and as such comes complete with scratches, dents and evidence of a life spent working. However, rust is said to be limited to the floors and has not penetrated through the metal, and overall the truck looks to have a lot left to give. Powered by a 225 slant-six, the TorqueFlite automatic trans has cool dash-mounted push-button controls, and paint is original civil service orange. Find it here on eBay in Irvine, California with no reserve.
