AACA Preservation Class: 1977 Pontiac Grand Prix
This 1977 Pontiac Grand Prix (chassis 2H57Z7P325136) is believed to be almost entirely original apart from a few touch-ups and replaced wearable items, the seller quouting just 8,800 miles from new. The car is presented with an AACA (Antique Automobile Club of America) Historic Preservation Certificate, and looks like it could easily be on display in a museum. Find it here on eBay in Fort Wayne, Indiana with a $25k BIN.
Rebuilt V8: 1978 Ferrari 308 GTS
This 1978 Ferrari 308 GTS is described as a matching-numbers example with 75k miles–unusually high for one of these. Its little quad cam, carb-fed V8 is said to have been rebuilt 6k miles ago, though apart from a brief claim of no leaks, no additional mechanical details are provided. Further described as very clean and rust free, photos aren’t the best, but the car does appear to be in good driver level condition, and sale includes a full factory tool kit. Find it here on Craigslist in Woodbridge, California for $59,500.
Rare 305 V6: Highly Original 1966 GMC Custom Caryall
This 1966 GMC Custom Carryall is an interesting model with the rare and unusual 305ci V6, a motor unique to this division. Said to be very complete and solid, the truck retains its original drivetrain, paint, and black and yellow California plates, and has been with the second owner for 25 years according to the ad. Find it here on eBay in Sacramento, California with no reserve.
See Where They Rust: 1959 Fiat 1200 Spyder
"See Where They Rust" is a series and category where we feature listings that do a particularly good job displaying where certain models tend to suffer from rust. We love looking for rust-free cars, but we have learned a ton about how to inspect the dry cars from looking at photos of heavily rusted models. Obviously floors and rocker panels are always at risk, but every model has different special areas where they corrode. We hope that this series is informative and helpful when you are verifying the claims of sellers and their "99% rust free" cars. -BaT
This 1959 Fiat 1200 Spyder is described as a “massive restoration project or possible parts source,” the seller further noting its missing VIN plate and lack of a title. The car is heavily rusted, with floors in particular being nearly completely rotten. It’s a shame to see one of these so neglected, though a few relatively solid looking pieces may still live on in as donor parts for a less far-gone example. Find it here on Craigslist in Colfax, Washington for $1,500. Special thanks to BaT reader Glen A. for this submission.
