Earliest Known Surviving Herbie: 1957 Volkswagen Beetle
This 1957 Volkswagen Beetle is one of ten Herbies originally used for the 1969 film The Love Bug. Fewer than five are reported to remain today, and this the only example claimed to wear original paint. Both the body and pan bear matching numbers, but the original 36 HP engine was replaced during filming with a 40 horse unit which is retained. Used as a stunt car and displaying the scars and character to prove it, this bug also comes fitted with a skid plate and racing harnesses, while a registration card connecting the car to Disney is also included. Find it here on The Samba in Mercer, Pennsylvania for $85k. Special thanks to BaT reader Tory A. for this submission.
Golden Commando: 1959 Plymouth Fury Two-Door Hardtop
This 1959 Plymouth Fury (chassis M266111941) is the claimed recipient of a now 20 year old full restoration. Still looking very sharp after two decades, the car is claimed to have been garaged ever since, while being driven weekly to keep things properly exercised. Powered by a 361ci Golden Commando V8, 305 HP is made through the use of twin four-barrel Carter carbs, while the engine is backed by a A488 TorqueFlite push-button 3-speed automatic. Find it here on eBay in Hamilton, Montana with reserve not met.
Descended from Samurai: 52K Mile 1991 Geo Tracker 4×4
This 1991 Geo Tracker (VIN 2CNBJ18U4M6906969) is claimed to have had just one previous owner, and mileage is quoted as a low 52k and change from new. As re-badged Suzuki Sidekicks, these 4WD models were actually lots of fun, particularly off-road, and this one combines an interesting mix of high and low spec OEM features as customized from new. Said to be rust and accident free, condition looks excellent throughout, and the seller says that it runs and drives very well also. Find it here on eBay in Burlington, Washington with no reserve. Special thanks to BaT reader Frank for this submission.
Number 37 of 55: 1993 Maxton Rollerskate
This 1993 Maxton Rollerskate (VIN 1MXRSN02ROME00037) is fresh from longtime storage, the ad noting a mild mechanical refreshment that included rebuilds of the fuel system and brakes. With only a bit over 2k miles from new, it’s offered on the original owner’s behalf and features a lightly upgraded Mazda 12A Wankel, contrary to being listed in the registry as having a 13B. Not surprisingly, it’s said to start, stop and run great. Find it here on eBay in Stewart, Illinois with reserve not met.
