Thirties Built Special Update: 1918 Stutz Speedster
9/23/2016 Update: Roughly a year and a half later, and this unusual but interesting 1918 Stutz speedster (chassis SJ9803PA) is back on the market, this time offered with no reserve–last year the seller was firm on a $25k asking price. The car is shown starting fairly easily and running smoothly in a short, recently shot video embedded within the ad, but as it’d been sitting for some time prior, the seller has deliberately listed it as a non-runner. Overall it looks and sounds to be in good shape though, and probably won’t need much sorting before returning to the road–its 30’s Terraplane L-head six for example is about as simple as multi-cylinder four-stroke engines get, and hydraulic brakes are hydraulic items for added peace of mind. Find it here on eBay in Dade City, Florida with no reserve.
Mid-Mounted Toronado Power: Three Mile Cimbria SS
This Cimbria SS (VIN 83F1128AZK1002) is an interesting kit car powered by mid-mounted 455/TH425 Olds Toronado running gear, the build of which was reportedly commissioned in the late 1980’s despite kit production ending in 1982. It’s then said to have been stored shortly after completion, and remains in nearly-new condition with only three miles on the odometer. Find it here on eBay in Las Vegas, Nevada for $18,500 OBO.
Two-Stroke German T-Bird: 1959 Auto Union 1000 SP
This 1959 Auto Union 1000 SP coupe (chassis 6815000953) is described as a ready to drive, accident free car with an unrestored interior and a nice exterior respray in the factory color. Few other details are given, but its two-stroke is said to run very smooth with uniform compression across all three cylinders, while photos show a nicely kept, driver level car with striking mini-Thunderbird looks. Find it here on Classic Trader in Cologne, Germany for 19,900 euros (~$22,250 USD today). Special thanks to BaT reader Kyle K. for this submission.
401 Nailhead Swapped Project: 1954 Buick Century Wagon
This 1954 Buick Century Wagon is described by its seller as one of 1,536 built for the model year, and though it hasn’t run in years and will need rusty floors repaired, the car seems to be mostly intact and would be a shame to crush. The factory 322ci V8 was swapped out for a 401 Nailhead at some point in the past, a solid upgrade that we’d elect to retain were the car ours to restore. Find it here on Craigslist near Minneapolis, Minnesota for $3,700 OBO. Special thanks to BaT reader Paul A. for this submission.
